ECC Pastors meeting

September 10, 2008

Yesterday Andy, Rob and I drove to Milwaukee for the luncheon meeting of the area ECC pastors.  When we arrived people were standing outside the church.  Problem – all locked up and no local pastor to open the doors.  Don’t know what happened.
So we sat on the ground and sidewalk and had our fellowship and [...]

Finally!

June 27, 2008

Finally, I have both feet firmly planted as a Covenant pastor!  Last night, in one of the biggest tents with air-conditioning in the world, my transfer of ordination was completed.   Having Kathy with me through the day was so terrific.  Over 70 people were transfered, commissioned, consecrated, or ordained!  We were all given a leather bound Oxford [...]

Big Week!

June 24, 2008

This morning I am on a significant juncture in a 36 year pilgrimage.  I return to the sacred place where I first heard God’s call on my life for ministry back in 1972.  Green Lake Conference Center is where I will be Tuesday through Thursday for the Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  I [...]

Want to go to Alaska and help?

April 29, 2008

EAGLE RIVER, AK (April 28, 2008) – Living conditions for pastors and church members in rural Alaska could significantly improve thanks to new partnerships with Evangelical Covenant Church conferences.
The conferences in the lower 48 states are each adopting at least one church and will offer financial support, which is sorely needed, says Rodney Sawyer, field [...]

Back Home

April 27, 2008

Andy and I got home Saturday afternoon from the Annual Meeting. Need we say we have good stories to share?
I never laughed so hard in my life. I will post photos and a story or two Sunday night.
Thanks for your prayers – they really kept us alive in the STORM. Stay tuned [...]

Cool

April 19, 2008

This is why I like being a Covenant pastor.
Story here.

Approval

April 8, 2008

We are thanking God tonight for answering our prayers.  This afternoon we asked the City Plan Commission for a conditional use permit to build on the east side of our church a new parking lot  with a canopy.
Sixteen members of Zion came to speak in favor of the plan and only one neighbor came in [...]

Central Conference Meeting

April 2, 2008

We have three delegates committed to go up to Iron River, Michigan for the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church’s annual meeting April 25-26: Bonnie, Linda and Howard are making the trip.
Andy and I go the day before for the pastor’s ministerium where I give a four minute testimony about my call to ministry.  [...]

Bibles for Prisoners

March 12, 2008

Andy Hopp and I wanted to help Rev. Tom Collins (retired Covenant Pastor/Professor) with his ministry to prisoners in Madison. He is the guy, second from the right straight ahead.  Andy scoured the downstairs cabinets at church and we found old Bibles that looked like they hadn’t been used since the 1970’s. They [...]

Sister Act…

March 2, 2008

Woke this morning to the  warmest Sunday of the season.  Streets are wet as the snow is giving up the fight and slinking away along the gutters, down the streets and into the rivers and lake and eventually back out to sea.
We had good attendance for the communion services and many visitors!  At the second service [...]
