In Eau Claire we stayed at the Plaza Hotel last weekend. It was okay but had some wear and tear showing around the edges. In fact the door handle to our room door fell off when Kathy closed it. A passing housekeeper laughed and couldn’t believe it. Maintenance was called. It got fixed.
But when we got there Thursday night the place was packed with people at some kind of convention. I briefly saw the words, “Open Air” on posters and signs around the place. I went to check out the room where we were going to have the wedding reception. On the doors to the ball room was this big sign, “Welcome All Our TOPLESS Friends.”
I freaked.
Did we dovetail with some nudist convention? Oh No!
Nope. It was a gathering of people who love CONVERTIBLE CARS. They were there for a weekend of touring Northwestern Wisconsin arranged by this group OPEN AIR TOURS. There were 200 convertibles ranging from a Mercedes Benz to a 57′ Chevy. Pretty cool to see them all “go topless” in the morning and drive away under sunny skies.
And some looked better topless than others….
