Andy, Rob and I drove to Milwaukee today for the Covenant Clergy District meeting. The roads were fine and we had no trouble with much blowing or drifting. The radio just didn’t play the songs I wanted. But we talked most of the time on the way down about the church budget that Andy was combing through like a chef with a sharp knife – slice and dice.
I enjoy the time of reconnecting with each other over the lunch hour and the hour after. Topics ranged from the clergy surplus in the ECC to a book review of “The Shack.” Laughter, questions, God-incidences, and prayer make it a good time. We all need somebody to lean on. We all need somebody to pray for and encourage.
On the ride back home we wondered when churches would start using charge cards during the offering. Ushers would need to ask people where they would like to sit: “Paper or Plastic?” It is all good.

If we used plastic we could we get Frequent Flier miles?
with infinite hope, Jim
Always great to see you guys!
Having one’s charge-card maxed out from church donations . . . hmmm.
