Poem – Lazarus Rising

raising-lazarus.jpg

Poor man Lazarus woken from his sleep

Deep down in peaceful rest, he must not keep.

Knock, knock, Jesus comes to pull him out of the sack.

Smack from where he went four deadly days back.

Back again to work he’ll go and earn more money

Funny how death could taste sweet as honey.

Pulled out of Paradise and out of grave’s cavity

Gravity again causes his soul flight’s brevity.

Poor man Lazarus you no longer are a mummy

All because with Jesus you chose to be chummy.
