Packing it in…

Good for Brett!  Going out after a great past season of play and leaving behind these stats:

  • He retires as the N.F.L. career leader in passing yards (61,655),
  • touchdown passes (442),
  • completions (5,377)
  • and attempts (8,758).
  • His 160 victories as a starting quarterback are also a record.

Much of his legacy rests on his durability. He played in his last 253 regular-season games, and 275 games including the postseason, records for quarterbacks.

What will he do now?  Mowing his Mississippi lawn, fishing and hunting won’t be enough.

Farewell to a Class Act. He was a role model both on and off the field and he went out on his own terms. Good for him! He gave us many enjoyable Sunday afternoons and I will miss him. As to what he will do – I bet he’ll keep it simple – family, reaching out to help others. But selfishly, gee, I’d sure like to see him in the announcers’ booth next September! Good luck Brett.

Even when you know something is going to happen, it is still very sad when it does. Here is hoping nothing but the best for Mr. Favre and his family. Thanks for the many years of great football.
